Louisville Slugger LogoEven though winter is beginning to set in, the world of baseball and softball still has some hotspots around the country. We’ll go over a few of the highlights that will be happening over the next couple of months to keep you excited in the off season.

Equipment News

Bat manufacturer Louisville Slugger has released its 2015 baseball bat line up. The new and updated bats include the Prime 915, Omaha 515, and the Select 715. The newly-introduced bats are up to BBCOR standards for NCAA ball, and they have youth versions as well. They kicked off the launch with a national demo day on November 8 with some great buzz and reviews. Players reviewing the bat say that you can hit the ball farther, and each new bat comes with a Louisville Slugger 30 Day Performance Promise to its customers.

Conferences and Annual Meetings

The American Baseball Coaches Association will be holding its 71st ABCA Convention from January 2-5, 2014 in sunny Orlando, Florida. This is an amazing event for baseball with prestigious coaching awards being given out including Coach of the Year. They will have over 300 companies displaying coaching programs, clothing, pitching machines and other equipment for baseball and softball, some of which has not been seen yet for the 2015 season! If you want to attend, early bird registration (which gets you admission to the trade shows, and all the other events for $70) ends December 1. You can find out more at abca.org.

AAU Baseball has the dates and registration available for their 9U to 14U events.

AAU Softball will host the Men’s International Fastpitch Championship in Kissimmee, Florida from January 22 – 25. It will be held at the ESPN Wide World of Sports in Disney World.

Baseball and softball keep advancing, no matter what time of year it is. Whether it is through new equipment coming out for the new year, or conferences that discuss and plan the upcoming tournaments, there is always something going on.
